CROSS-STITCH & BLACKWORK EMBROIDERY

I have been doing cross-stitch since approx 1992, but recently rediscovered it after a break of about 5 years and have started working on some of my unfinished projects - a tiger's head and a willow pattern plate.

Here are some of the things I have completed:

This is a sampler I designed and worked for my mum's 60th birthday. I used motifs taken from Jo Verso's books and used them to depict jobs, hobbies and interests in my mum's life.

I presented it to her on her 60th birthday and she was stunned! It was great fun to do, but not a project I'd undertake again in a hurry!!

This is a picture showing the detail from the top of mum's sampler. My uncle was extremely 'put out' that he is depicted as a baby!

Here are some other pictures I have designed:

This was a card I designed as a thank you to my aunt and uncle who live in France. We stayed with them for a 2 week holiday and this is us saying 'cheers'!

This is my first attempt at Blackwork. I designed this little picture of my house. I want to do more blackwork in the future.

I've worked many, many small designs from kits or published patterns, but unfortunately most have been given away and I have no pictures. :(
However, here are pictures of a couple that I do still have:

This lovely train is from "Cross Stitch Collection" No 12 Aug/Sept 1994.
I just love the shading in the steam!

This mini sampler is worked on 28 count evenweave over 1 thread and measures only 4.5x7.5cm. I think this was a cover kit on a magazine, but I can't find which one.
