CELTIC EGG PATTERN
Tatting Exchange - April 2000
Adapted and worked by Helen Bailey from a circular motif by Sue Hanson
The pattern for Sue's original motif is
available at http://freespace.virgin.net/r.hanson/tatting/celtic.htm
or in 'Lace' no 93, page 23
This pattern is made in three steps: two
separate motifs
are worked, posted through each other and then
a final round is worked to tie it all together.
Original worked in Manuela 20 - mauve 013, yellow 046
With this thread it measures approx 2.5 x 3 inches
First Section
*Ring 5 p 5 + 5 p 5 p 5 p 5
Chain 18**
Repeat from* to ** 8 more times, joining second picot of ring to
fourth picot of previous ring.
Join to base of first ring. Cut and tie.
Note: this will come out slightly cupped and does not lay flat.
It will be fine when the motif is assembled.
Second Section
Note the slight differences
in the chains which are necessary to get the egg shape!
*Ring 7 p 7
Chain A 4 + 8 p 4**

to second picots of previous chains.
